Virtuoso fiddle player Joe Broughton, Director of Folk Ensembles at Birmingham Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music, heads up a team of the most inspirational tutors on the folk and world music scene today to bring you a raucous week of high energy workshops, instrumental tuition, big ensemble projects and much more… Improve your own playing, learn to work in a group and even just make stuff up that you think sounds good! Folkworld will give you an insight into some of the most exciting, infectious and popular music in the world in a practical and enjoyable way.
You do not need to have any prior experience of playing folk, playing by ear or writing music. Folkworld is for any instrument, at any level except for complete beginners. If you can play a very simple tune you will be fine, if you are a genius we will challenge you! A Performance will be held at the end of the week.
Bring a packed lunch for lunch time, get free squash and biscuits in the breaks. No accommodation is provided but there are many camp sites, B&Bs and hotels in the surrounding area. If you're having trouble finding somewhere please get in touch.
All tutors are very experienced and CRB checked.
